11/4 Question

Compare and contrast Fight Club to the novel and/or other adaptations we've watched of Jekyll and Hyde. What do we gain by thinking of Fight Club as an adaptation of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

there some thing between Fight club and TV show are similar, first, the main character has two different behaviors, second, they don't need take the potion, just like they born as this way. also, there is love story in these two adaptatons. and they don't know anything about their other side. but finally they figure out. therefore, the main idea of fight club is follow with the novel, and they have same context.

Fight club is definitely the most unique and different of all the adaptions. Rather then undergoing a physical change, in fight club the Jekyll/ Hyde is the product of a mental issue. In fight club we also see the two characters at the same time interacting with each other to some extent. Unlike the novel and film there is no potion that the main character underwent to go through this change. Fight club is similar though because like the other adaptions of Jekyll and Hyde the main character has two separate halfs that have completely different personalities.

Fight club is a very good protrayal of Jekyll and Hyde. I like fight club personally because it provides a different perspective of two different personalitys apparent all time. In the book and movie Jekyll and Hyde we never got to see both personalities at the same time, just the one that overpowered the other. To me the T.V show and Fight Club are a lot more similer than the movies.

Fight Club was a loose adaptation of Jekyll and Hyde in the film and the novel because in the film and the novel, Hyde seemed to always be awake inside Jekyll. For example, in the film, Hyde quoted Ivy from when she was alone with Jekyll, proving that he could remember her saying those things. However, in Fight Club, Tyler Durdin takes control of Edward Norton's life and he has no memory of it or control over the changes. This is similar to Jekyll and Hyde in the TV show though, because they require mutual serveillance and communication so that their lives don't become more confusing than they already are.

Fight Club and the tv show are a lot alike. Both sides communicate with each other and the condition wasn't brought on by a potion. In both cases there is a love story that confuses the women because they don't know what it going on. It is different because in Fight Club the main character clearly suffers from multiple personalities, but in Jekyll there is a physical change and that makes something much worse than just a psychiatric disorder.

As viewers, we are able to gain more information about the change that occurs between multiple main characters. The biggest difference between Fight Club and the 1941 movie Jekyll and Hyde is the physical change that the main character undergoes. Another is the existence of the secondary personality within the character. In Fight Club, the two personalities are believed to be two seperate people whereas Jekyll and Hyde share a common body and mind.

Fight Club and the novel have a similarity that Jekyll has two totally different personalities. But they also have many differences. In Fight Club, the main character doesn't need to drink a portion because he was born with this issue. And the two characters are look alike. They also can come at the same time and communicate with each other through the record pen. Unlike in the novel, Jekyll has to take the physical change.

Fight club is diffrent from the film Jekyll and Hyde. In the film, Jekyll needs to drink poison to change to Hyde. Meanwhile, we clearly realize Jekyll and Hyde are totally two different people. But in fight club, we realize there are two diffrent charactors in one person as the same time. Also, we still can find the shadow of Jekyll and Hyde in fight club. Both of them bring us a question that is does people is good or evil to think about.

Fight Club presented a new side to the Jekyll and Hyde story. In the movie Tyler wasn't aware that he had to separate egos. Also unlike the novel he didn't have to drink the formula to bring about the change.

I think Fight Club is most similar to the tv show Jekyll, because they are both dealing with schizophrenia. The difference with fight club is that we have to figure it out for ourselves, which is similar to the novel because they dont just come out and tell us. However it is different from the novel in that both characters become violent. It is true that ed nortons character is much less violent and still in the beginning tries to lead a normal life, but he too is a part of fight club. It is different from the TV show to because Ed nortons character isnt aware that he is schizophrenic like Jackman knows, but they do both struggle with work and other more modern problems.

I really think that Fight Club is an extremely loose adaptation of the Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, especially since it's based on another novel. What they have in common is that the two main characters have "split personalities", and neither one of them have to drink a potion in order to have this problem.
There is also a love interest in both adaptations, and the love interest has no idea about the main character's other side, until they figure it out for themselves.

FIght Club is very similar to the television show Jekyll. The main character in both movies has a split personality where one half is good and the other half is evil. The good halves in both movies do their best to control their evil half but fail miserably. Also in both Fight Club and the Television show Jekyll, the main characters are born with these split personalities. We gain another similar adaptation to the television show from thinking of Fight Club as an adaptation of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.

Fight Club is a unique adaptation of Jekyll and Hyde. Edward Norton and Tyler Durden are two personalities within the same person, just like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Like the show Jekyll, it is set in modern times. Unlike the novel and show, Tyler, as Hyde, has a goal. He is trying to better the life of his host, and start a revolutionary way of thinking all at the same time. Tyler can be considered evil though, due to the methods he was using: nitro glycerin bombs and beating people to near death. He is as violent as Hyde, yet not the same.

In fight club, Ed Norton has no idea that he is really Brad Pitt. He didn’t have to take a potion to change. The change was automatic because it was just a separate part of his personality. Naturally, in Fight Club we still get the sense of two different personalities coming from one person. We also see that in the end one ends up winning in the end. In most other adaptations Mr. Hyde and Dr. Jekyll end up dying in the end.
