The show jekyll is based in present time. The main character has a family, a job, and an assistant who helps him and his other half out. Unlike the movie or novel in this show Jekyll comunicates with his other half and has set agreements on things he can or cannot do. Also in this show Jekyll works with investigators who will try and find a cure for his disease.

The show Jekyll brings issues such as a cure for Tom Jackman's "disease", and they make mention of the fact that Jackman has no idea where he came from and that he has no relatives. Also, in the tv show, Jackman has a family, and he hires someone to keep tabs on his evil side. Jackman did not drink a potion like Jekyll did, he was born this way.

The only issue that I think the show Jekyll addressed that the film and the novel didn't is living with a life long disease. Jekyll was born with a disease that causes him to have two personalities; one that is very pleasant and normal and one that is evil. He is doing anything in his power to try to find a cure for the disease and while trying to find a cure, he is doing his best to deal with the evil personality. For instance, he built a chair that he straps himself to the restrains him when he turns into the evil personality.

Eric. I'm only showing this side so i can comment on someones. Not cause i don't think you have a great answer. But you could argue that the issue isn't really a life long desease. I mean so far from the film we get the idea that it came on during late stages of his life just around the time Dr. Jekyll's did. True Dr. Jekyll did bring this upon himself through dangerous curiosity and Tom Jackman inherited the trates, but he hasn't had to deal with them until the same time period in his life. This gives many similarites in the issues of Dr. Jekyll and Jackman. Also we get the hint that this timing might also bring Jackman to his death soon as did Dr. Jekyll.

I agree with Martina completely. The main issue with Tom in Jekyll is that he is struggling with schizophrenia that he cannot control, whereas in the book the transformation is purposeful. They also bring in issues concerning his families safety and in Jekyll & Hyde there wasnt really family to worry about. Finally, he is also having problems at work since he cant control the change. The TV show brings about much more modern problems.

I agree with what Hanna and Martina said, i feel that the show brings the issue that Jekyll was born with the disease and did not chose to drink a potion and bring it upon himself to the forefront of the story and evolves that point with the precautions Jekyll takes to protect his family and those around him from his other half.

Eric the show Jekyll brought up more than just that one issue. There's the fact that he Jackman (not Jekyll) can communicate with Hyde and has a set agreement with him. Jackman has a wife and kids, while Hyde has a girlfriend, maybe. There is a strange black van following them around that is still a mystery, and more than just Jackman know about his condition while he is still alive. There are a lot more issues to consider.

I agree with Martina. In the novel Jekyll brings the change into Hyde upon himself by creating the formula. In the show, however, he turns into Hyde completely involuntarily and has no idea why it’s happening.

I agree with Martina. In the tv show, Jekyll is born with disease. Instead of drinking poison, Jekyll uses a special chair to change. In the tv show, Jekyll can't control himself to change, and hyde doesn't know who is he. There is a difference between tv show and novel, Jekyll has a family in the show, and he does everything to potect his family. But the novel doesn't.

The T.V show brings up the fact that Jekyll has a family that he needs to take care of . Not just that but it also brings more 21st century material into the picture. For instance intstead of driving a carraige he drives a car, instead of using papper he uses a tape recorder, and instead of taking a potion he has a disease.

The issues that the show Jekyll brings up are that Jekyll can communicate with Hyde through a record pen and in the show, Jekyll is more smart because he hires a assistant to help him. And also, Jekyll's family are mentioned in the show. Jekyll does his best to protect his family.

In Jekyll the main issue they bring up is the fact that when the main character changes into Hyde he has no idea what he has done. When he wakes up "normal" he has to try and figure out where he is and what has happened. The only way to do this is by listening to his recored. In the film Jekyll could remember everything and was nervous when he saw Ivy because he thought she would figure out that he was also Hyde.

In the show brings up the issue that Jekyll has a wife and kids. In the novel, Jekyll had no one but friends, and even they seemed to lose track of him and be distant from him. In the film, Jekyll is about to be married, but has no family of his own and ends up leaving everyone behind. In the show Jekyll, Dr. Jackman has priorities and secrets from his other side so that he can keep his family safe. This is another issue that is different from the novel and the film because Jackman can know things that Hyde or Billy doesn't know, and vice versa.

The greatest issue I have noticed is the fact that Jekyll and Hyde are two completely different people that have no relation to each other. Yes they are the same person, but once they transform from Jekyll to Hyde or Hyde to Jekyll, they have no recollection as to what they did when they were their other half. In the movie, after Hyde abused that woman, Jekyll remembered it and told her that she would never see Hyde again. He knew everything Hyde had done, and when he heard about the woman sitting in his office, he knew who she was.

I agree with what Clay had to say. It is very intriguing to see Dr. Jackman struggle to remember what Mr. Hyde has done. I also see much more of a personal battle then I noticed in the book. In the show, Jackman has to make a recording to Hyde to tell him not to ever touch his family again, and it is very emotional.

In this version of Jekyll and Hyde, there are a few key differences that the novel and film didn't address. First and foremost, it is set in modern times instead of the 1800s, where Hyde can have fun with all the technology that has developed. Second, Jackman (Jekyll) has a wife and kids that he must defend against Billy Hyde. Finally, Jackman doesn't know why he is changing, where he did in the book and novel, because he made and drank the potion. It is a condition in this version, without a known cure.

I agree with the majority of you. Unlike in the movie and Novel, Jekyll never takes a potion to become Hyde, he is born with the disease. THis shows that Jekyll never wanted to become evil at all and that he just wanted to be himself.

The show Jekyll takes place in modern day England. Dr. Jackman does not know where he came from, he has no known relatives. Dr. Jackman also has a wife and kids. He hired someone to watch after him when he turns to his "dark side" and communicates with him through a tape recorder. Finally, Dr. Jackman never took a potion to make him turn evil, he was born with the disease.

i think the different between the book and the film is the characters and the time period. and i agree with what Martinain says, in this show, the main character is born with the evil side, and he didn't drink any potion, and the interesting thing is people think the main character is the incarnation of Dr.Jekyll. moreover, there is other defference is that when one person is awake, the other one doesn't know anything about it.such as what happened in other person is awake.

The show Jekyll involves the main character's family whereas the novel, nor the 1941 film did. This time, (Jackman) is more concerned with protecting his love ones. Also, the show takes place in present day London. Some of the motives of multiple characters are different and quite complicated.
