Having read the book and now watching the movie allows us to realize what the advantages and disadvantages are of only watching the film and only reading the novel. For instance, watching the film allows us to see each character of the novel. Being able to see each character allows us to understand the character more. Watching the movie also shows us clearly the events of each part of the novel just in case you didn't interpret that part of the novel.

Reading the novel allows us to explore or imagination more. Instead of seeing each character and scene from what the film is telling you what it looks like, you can develop what it looks like with your mind. That makes novels sometimes a lot more fun then films.

the movie allows us to get a visualization of what hyde looks like and why he may be looking so deformed but why people cant quite explain it. We can also see more how he is evil and get to witness his acts of wrongdoing more. In the movie he seems more of a predator to women than I had imagined in the novel. In addition, the movie allows for there to be more romance and add more of a plot to the novel that wasnt there before. On the other hand, reading the novel allows for more of the imagination and we can visualize the characters ourselves. I myself had imagined a more noticeable change in the transformation between Jekyll and Hyde. In addition, the character Utterson isnt really developed and the story is less of a mystery that you have to solve for yourself.

now, watching this movie allows us to have a visual experience to understand the story. We can see the what does the Hyde and Jekyll look like directly. and also, we can clearly to know the relationships among the charactors. Meanwhile vivid plot make us have much interest in this novel. then, we recognize how does the Hyde evil clearly.

For the book, we only image how does the story going on in our mind, and what does the charactors look like. Also, for me, reading the book is bored and difficult because lots of new words.

The film brings another dimension to the plot that the book cannot do. The sound effects combined with the visual action sends fear to the viewer with in more senses that the novel does. However the novel leaves room for the reader to imagine the fear at its worst. It leaves room for the reader to make what he or she thinks the terror consist of and what it is like. It makes the experience more personal.

The film allows the viewer to visually grasp the concept of Hyde's deformities. When reading the book it was hard to imagine an accurate depiction of how he could have looked. The movie also helps to portray the setting that was so important in the novel. The London streets for example were exactly how they had been described in the story. The film overall creates a clearer picture of the plot, setting, and characters.

From the film, we have a audio-visual enjoyment. Jekyll and Hyde's characteristics, kind and evil, are shown us by the performance of the actors. we can directly see what does Jekyll and Hyde look like and distinguish the differences between them. Also, in the film, the director adds many things that the novel doesn't mention to make the storyline more interesting. On the other hand, the film has a certainty. after watching the film, audience will think "oh,Jekyll and Hyde's appearances are just like in the film".But when we read the novel, we have more room to imagine the plots and their appearances.

The film adds a whole new twist to the story. The novel was short and did not have a lot of details in it. The movie on the other hand has an almost entirely new cast, and focuses a lot on the reasoning of Jekyll, instead of just how everyone reacts to Hyde. The movie gives a lot more of the story. The book, however, allows you to interpret it how you see fit, which is nice, and you can make up the parts of the story you don't know to make them fit.

I feel that reading the book gives us more information overall on the characters and what is going on in the story and lets our minds interpret the story with our imagination. On the other hand the movie gives us a concrete interpretation that illustrates to us everything that the book has left up to our minds before

The book is able to cause the reader to visualize the appearance of Hyde. Whereas the movie allows the viewer to see exactly what Hyde looks like. The storyline of the movie is also very different from the book. This is unique, because the audience is left hanging, not knowing what will happen next. I like the idea of using different characters because the film now creates anticipation in the reader. When reading the book, I was able to easily predict what would happen next. The directors and producers did a much better job creating suspense than the book. The author does a better job of portraying Hyde as an evil villain. I have to say that the book conveys the theme of monsters, villains and freaks better.

The film allows people to see the characters' emotion and we can see how different is Dr.Jekyll when he become Mr. Hyde.so film is more visual. In the book, we can imagine what is Mr.Hyde looks like, and different people has different thought, so we don't have a excatly picture in our mind.

The movie allows us to be able to picture what the Jekyll looks like. In the novel the only thing that we can refer to is usally the front cover. However this does not give us a very accurate image of what he looks like. However in the novel we can understand a lot more of what the chacter is thinking. The only thing that we can see in the movie is his emotions and dialog. So we have to guess what he is thinking at that given time.

The movie allows the audience to get a visual idea of the difference between Jekyll before the potion, and after (as Hyde). The book can only go so far with descriptions, but a movie can make it real. However, the book is able to give us insight into the minds of characters, allow us to hear their thoughts. In watching a movie we can only attempt to do so by trying to read the actors' facial expressions.

Both the book and film add things to the story, but (obviously) in different way. The book gives mystery to the story. The relationship between Jekyll and Hyde is not revealed until the end, which makes the reader wonder Hyde's reason for where he is and who his victims are. As we discussed in class, it allows the reader to try to solve the case along with Utterson. It becomes a novel which you involve yourself in. The book on the other hand, adds suspense. The music is the main thing which makes the movie more suspenseful. It gives clues that something bad will happen, you just don't know what; and are suprised when you find out. By revealing Jekyll as Hyde in the beginning, there is no involvement as to figuring out what is happening and why, but it does allow you to feel like a helpless outside....you know Jekyll will kill, you just don't know who, and thanks to the picture with the story a stronger attachment is developed for the characters, so you wish you could warn them, but you can't. Both are interesting ways to approach the story, and both are effective. However, I think the movie's suspense is more effective than the book's mystery simply because the majority of people know the story of Jekyll and Hyde from the beginning, even before reading it, so that takes away from the mystery overall.

The film is able to pull the viewer in with different techniques then the book. For example the love story in the movie opposed to the mystery in the book. What is bad about the movie compared to the book is that we see that Jekyll and Hyde are the same person. When i was reading the book i didnt realize this unti the end.

Obviously, the film provides the imagery that we can only self-create when reading the book. When you read the book, you put your own image of Hyde in your head, but when you watch the movie it doesn't allow such freedom.
